This research explores the ecological reorientation of the Ihya’ al-Mawat concept as a transformative solution to address the land degradation crisis in Indonesia, which covers 24.3 to 48.3 million hectares. Using the Ma’anil Hadis methodology, this study deconstructs the interpretation of hadiths regarding "reviving dead land" from mere legal ownership into a moral mandate for sustainable ecosystem restoration. The primary issue addressed is the government's restoration approach, which tends to be technocratic-top-down and lacks engagement with the religious values of society. Analysis shows that land damage statistics, including an erosion rate of 60 tons/ha/year and a 70% loss of soil biodiversity, demand the integration of theo-ecological values with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15. The study concludes that synchronizing Islamic Sharia principles, such as Ta’abbud, Ta’aqquli, and Takhalluq, with national regulations like the 1960 UUPA is crucial for achieving Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) by 2030. This paradigm shift enables the active involvement of faith-based communities in restoring environmental integrity as part of human responsibility as caliphs on earth.
